Persephone's Zodiac: Exploring Goddess Archetypes in Astrology
The Rape of Persephone is perhaps the most unique, seminal and profound story of Greek mythology. This course will explore the myth in multiple unique ways, and brings forth evidence from ancient astrological techniques and doctrines to connect the myth to the Zodiac. From this emerges a primordial, complete and novel logos for astrology firmly based in the seasons.
TOPICS WE'LL DISCUSS:
Topics we will explore include: the Hero’s journey and the female archetypes; ancient versus Christian, Gnostic and modern views of the Underworld; polarity and the Battle of the Sexes; Hermeticism, Natural Law and Gender; the conspiracy of the gods that allowed this to happen; the myth as a possible record of extremely ancient epochal shifts between gynocratic and patriarchal dominance.
Persephone herself is a metaphor.
We will walk Persephone through the Signs and Seasons, and examine her relationships to the archetypal Sign rulers as they shepherd and guide humanity through the seasons in the Northern Hemisphere.
ARE THERE ANY PRE-REQUISITES?
This course is an expansion of the ideas presented in my book, Venus in Virgo: Archetypes of Goddess Consciousness in Astrology.
WHO IS THIS FOR?
This class is open to anyone open to exploring ancient mythology and astrology. Prior knowledge of Hellenistic astrology is not required, but is helpful.
CLASS STRUCTURE
You will receive 2 recorded videos and 2 live sessions for Q&A and deeper discussion.
Class will begin early to mid October, date TBA
